Self-Reflection
Writing is an art. As with any art to get better you must do it. ("How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice.") The first essay you write is never your best. Usually the second and third arn't much better. But when you write essay after essay, rewriting and rewriting each one, you start to get better, step by step. This is a problem for me. As a world-class procrastinator, I have a tendency to do the least amount of work possible, and write each essay once and be satisfied with that. When I do this, I don't get any better. I'm not a bad writer, far from it I like to believe, and I enjoy writing essays about interesting topics. But my writing tends to be mainly static in quality: I' not getting any better or any worse. If I ever want to be a truly great writer, I need to step up my game and work. I have resolved to get better at my rewrites and at working on my problems. Over the next several months I have determined to fix my flaws and rectify my procrastinating habits. College is right around the corner, and I WILL be ready for it. My writing shall be a reflection of my resolve. I shall become an artist.
